Specialist Agistment Farms In Demand

Friday, 19th June 2015

With Australia's bloodstock sector currently enjoying a boom period, ancillary industry services are in concomitant demand. These include agistment and spelling properties that specialise as seasonal or permanent homes for broodmares, offering walk-on, walk-off services to stallions at surrounding stud farms, and sometimes beyond. Often referred to collectively as boutique farms, these highly skilled establishments have assumed an important support role during the breeding season. Most of them are also well known as yearling vendors, as well as offering general spelling, sales preparation, weaning services and, sometimes, breaking-in and pre-training. As of this morning, Breeding&Racing's latest industry feature, highlighting the spelling and agistment sector, is now online. Including a general overview, it also puts the spotlight on the below select properties (with their State location in parenthesis) for breeders considering their options in the lead up to the breeding season. To access the feature, either CLICK HERE or on the Industry Features tab in the menu bar at the top of this page. Individual farm profiles can be accessed from within the full feature, by clicking their names at the top left of the Industry Feature page.
