Goodwood Cup Next For Trip To Paris
Ascot Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris (Champs Elysees-La Grande Zoa, by Fantastic Light) will have his next start in the Goodwood Cup on 30 July, after which connections will discuss whether to target the Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November, reports At The Races. "We are considering the Goodwood Cup. It's a very valuable race. Of course, he'll have a penalty and discussions amongst the partnership are very much involved about going to the Melbourne Cup," trainer Ed Dunlop said. "At staying distances, the difference is he has a turn of foot. As you saw in the Ascot Gold Cup, he really quickened up the straight. It's a different speed tempo. He's not a slow Gold Cup winner. He has got a turn of foot and he's got a wonderful temperament." he added: "He's not a flamboyant worker. He's very similar to Red Cadeaux on that front. He's won at a mile and a half so he's not that slow." Dunlop said Trip To Paris could be accompanied to Australia by Red Cadeaux, who has finished runner-up in three of the past four editions of the Melbnourne Cup. "He's going to have a freshen up and we'll think about something like the Geoffrey Freer and then see whether we take him to Melbourne again."
