High Profile Northern Meteor Colt On Debut In Brisbane

Friday, 26th June 2015

With Northern Meteor youngsters like Sydney harbour real estate – they're not making any more – a high profile colt is set to make his racetrack debut at tomorrow's Doomben meeting in Brisbane. Following yesterday's quartet of winners by Northern Meteor in Australia (Sun Flash, Meteor Bound, Think Aloud & Tiffany's Diamond), a $640,000 yearling purchase by increasingly global influence China Horse Club at the 2014 Inglis Easter Sale looks like one to follow. Consigned by Widden Stud, the colt has cleverly been named Rainbow Nation, a moniker typically associated with South Africa after the demise of apartheid – he is out of the Catrail mare Saffie Darling. She is a half-sister to Hong Kong superstar Sacred Kingdom, and also closely related to multiple Group winner Love Of Mary and Gr2 winner Jabali, runner-up in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes. Gerald Ryan is the trainer of Rainbow Nation who won his most recent trial at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney earlier this month.
