Moore Eyes Seventh Title

Tuesday, 30th June 2015

Six-time champion Hong Kong trainer John Moore is on the verge of a seventh title after producing well-bred winners One More World and Dashing Fellow at Sha Tin on Saturday, reports the South China Morning Post. The double took Moore to 63 wins for the season, giving him a 4-win buffer over second-placed John Size. "If we lead by more wins than there are races left, then we can claim it, but anything could happen yet," said Moore, who last claimed the leading trainers title in 2010-11. "I've been on the other side of it, so I don't feel comfortable yet." Moore said the victory of One More World was a relief, with the 3YO finally breaking through at start number six. By Redoute's Choice out of the Snippets mare Fragmentation, One More World is a three-quarter brother to Gr1-winning  Australian sprinter Wanted and cost Moore $520,000 at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. "It was a pretty weak race, but he has been unlucky at times drawing some bad gates," Moore said. "I think he will equip himself well in Class Three." Moore was also pleased with the performance of Dashing Fellow, whom he feels can graduate to Class One company in time. By Duporth out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Moon Fever, Dashing Fellow is a half brother to stakes winning sprinter Aeronautical and hails from the Eau D'Etoile family of dual Gr1 winner Filante, Golden Slipper winner Bint Marscay, Australian Guineas winner Kenny's Best Pal, and Gr1 Australia Stakes winner Stella Cadente, whom he counts as his second dam. "If I had a stable full of horses like him I would be a very happy trainer," Moore said. "He has some beautiful breeding but has lived up to it. He will handle himself in Class Two and get to Class One eventually. That was his best performance of the season."
