Beau Impresses Doyle In Gallop

Wednesday, 1st July 2015

James Doyle says he "wouldn't swap" his mount Brazen Beau for any other horse in the upcoming July Cup field after partnering the Australian sprinter in a workout on the July Course at Newmarket yesterday morning, reports Sky Sports. Doyle is set to ride the Chris Waller-trained Brazen Beau in the July Cup (1200m) on Saturday week, in which the 3YO will carry the royal blue silks of Godolphin for the first time. Brazen Beau's workout involved cantering two furlongs before picking up the pace for the last four furlongs. "He didn't do anything too searching, we just wanted to let him have a feel of the track," Doyle said. "I let him quicken up at the two pole he ran into the dip and changed his legs, he levelled up perfectly and he hit the line nicely." He added: "He's got a great temperament and is really relaxed. He handled it well and I wouldn't swap him for anything else." Stable representative Johanne Taylor was also pleased with the workout. "Brazen Beau has tightened up a bit since Ascot. He lost a bit of weight but not anything to be concerned about and he has put it all back on," she said. "I even think that he has come on for that run – we thought that we had him spot on there but he impressed me with the way that he came through it. He is the type of horse who steps up to any task that you put before him." She added: "We hope to work him on the course again early next week and Chris [Waller] will be here by then."
