Go Indy Go Ready For Spring

Wednesday, 1st July 2015

Trainer Leon Macdonald is hoping that highly regarded filly Go Indy Go (Bernardini-Elegant Eagle, by Zabeel) can finally measure up in some of the feature races in the spring, reports AAP. Macdonald described the daughter of Bernardini as the best horse he had trained following her victory in the Gr1 Champagne Stakes as a 2YO, but she failed to win a race in five starts last spring and connections decided to miss the autumn so she could have plenty of time to mature and develop. Macdonald is confident the extended break will help Go Indy Go realise her potential as she bids to follow in the steps of former stable stars such as Southern Speed, Gold Guru, Umrum and Rebel Raider. "She had a long rest and she is now back in good order and will be entered for all the big races including the Cox Plate and the Caulfield Cup," Macdonald said. "The plan is to give her a trial then an exhibition gallop with Happy Trails at Morphettville on August 1 before the Spring Stakes a week later. Then she will probably head to Melbourne." The weight-for-age Gr3 Spring Stakes (1200m) will be run at Morphettville on 8 August.
