Thursday, 2nd July 2015

Southern Cross Breeding & Racing have purchased Gr1 winner Crackerjack King from Darren Dance & syndicate owners of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock to stand in South Australia. The son of Shamardal, who is a half-brother to Gr1 winner Jakkalberry and Italian Derby winner Awelmarduk, will commence stud duties at Oakside Park, Hahndorf, South Australia this season at a fee of $4,000+gst. The Irish-bred Crackerjack King (Shamardal-Claba di San Jore, by Barathea) won 7 of his 14 starts, highlighted by victories in the Gr1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica and the Gr2 Derby Italiano, where he defeated 2011 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Danedream. The handsome grey entire also had a handful of starts for trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig in Australia with his best performance being a third in the Gr1 Underwood Stakes last September.
