Foxbridge First-Up For Soriano

Thursday, 2nd July 2015

The decision by owner-breeder Denise Howell to give Soriano (Savabeel-Call Me Lily, by Just a Dancer) a further campaign will see the dual Gr1 winner follow the same spring path as she did last year, reports NZ Racing Desk. Soriano was put aside for a well-earned spell after finishing unplaced in the Gr1 New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie last March and has thrived during her break. "She's been back in six or seven weeks and she looks so much stronger," said co-trainer Graeme Rogerson. "I'm glad Denise decided to race her on." He added: "She'll kick off in the Foxbridge Plate then go to Hastings for the Triple Crown." The Gr2 Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate (1200m) will be run at Soriano's home track of Te Rapa on August 15 with the Hawke's Bay Triple Crown comprising the Gr1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) on August 29, the Gr1 Windsor Park Stud Plate (1600m) three weeks later, and the Gr1 Livamol Classic (2040m) on October 3. Soriano has won 7 of her 42 starts to date for over NZ$750,000  prize money, with her two Gr1 victories being the Zabeel Classic (2000m ) and Herbie Dyke Stakes (2000m).
