Horn Price Ridiculous: Gosden

Thursday, 2nd July 2015

John Gosden thinks Saturday's Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown is far from a one-horse race and believes Derby winner Golden Horn is a ridiculous price for the Gr1 feature, reports Racing Post. The unbeaten son of Cape Cross, who is as short as 4-11 for the time honoured event, rounded out his preparation with an impressive gallop on the Al Bahathri Polytrack at Newmarket on Tuesday. Speaking after the workout Gosden said: "I was pleased with Golden Horn but I think his odds for the weekend are pretty ridiculous." He added: "It's far from a one-horse race and I have a great deal of respect for The Grey Gatsby, who is a multiple Group 1 winner and was a little unfortunate not to win at Royal Ascot. He’s arguably the best mile-and-a-quarter horse around and sets a very high standard. I think the odds should be more like evens and 2-1 rather than what they are now." Golden Horn defeated stable-mate Jack Hobbs by almost 3-lengths in last month's Epsom Derby with the latter franking that form in emphatic fashion when landing the Irish Derby on the weekend by 5-lengths.
