Racing NSW Defends Licensing Of Vets
Racing NSW has come out in defence of its new vets licensing policy saying it is essential to "uphold the integrity of thoroughbred racing in New South Wales." The policy, which took effect yesterday (Wednesday 1 July), requires equine vets working in NSW to be licensed by Racing NSW. However, in order to allow veterinarians time to lodge the registration forms and for trainers, particularly in rural areas, time to ensure that their stable vets are licensed, there will be a moratorium of enforcement of until 1 August 2015. Racing NSW is particularly critical of the stance adopted by the Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA), which claims the terms of the licence are unfair.
