Sistonic Back After Throat Operation

Monday, 6th July 2015

Trainer David Hayes is confident that well-related filly Sistonic can start to fulfil her potential this spring after having a minor throat operation, reports AAP. The three-quarter sister to champion sprinter Black Caviar looked a top-class filly herself when scoring an easy 4.5-length win on debut in January before winning a benchmark race for fillies at Moonee Valley. She then stepped up to stakes company but disappointed finishing fourth as favourite in the Gr3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes and was spelled after being well beaten in the Listed MSS Security Stakes at Flemington. "She pulled up making a terrible noise and they thought they could help her with a wind op, and we did it," Hayes said. "She looks big and strong and impressive as usual. We'll get her back into form and then target a black type race and then she's worth a fortune." He added: "With the wind problem she was pretty good, so we've fixed the wind problem." Hayes said Sistonic was likely to resume in late August or early September. By Black Caviar's sire Bel Esprit, Sistonic is out of the Danehill mare Danavia, a half-sister to Black Caviar and Vinery stallion All Too Hard's dam Helsinge.
