Doyle Praises Fantastic Beau

Tuesday, 7th July 2015

James Doyle says that Brazen Beau is in "fantastic shape" ahead of Saturday's Gr1 July Cup (1200m) at Newmarket, reports Racing Post. The Godolphin jockey partnered the star Australian sprinter in a four furlong workout on the July course on Monday morning, with trainer Chris Waller, who had just stepped off a plane, on hand to watch. "It's great for Brazen Beau to get a feel of the place as it's a bit more undulating than Ascot, here you go down as well as up," Waller said. "He worked 400 metres I suppose which was maintenance work and it's just a question of keeping a lid on him until Saturday. Even though he finished second at Ascot I reckon he nailed it. It was a fantastic run." Doyle's confidence seems to be building by the day with Brazen Beau, who will carry the royal blue of Godolphin for the first time on Saturday. "I did a little bit more with Brazen Beau than I did last week and he's in fantastic shape. Obviously, you've got to respect Muhaarar [winner of the Gr1 Commonwealth Cup] who turned in a freakish performance at Ascot but my fellow goes there on top of his game."
