VRC Derby Hopes For Ragnaar

Tuesday, 7th July 2015

Nigel Tiley has Australian classic hopes for his lightly-tried black type performer Ragnaar, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Pukekohe trainer has the Roc de Cambes juvenile back in light work with a long-range plan to be set in motion for the spring. "He will be nominated for the VRC Derby and that has always been the intention, ever since he first came into the stable as a younger horse," Tiley said. Ragnaar finished runner-up in his 2YO debut at Avondale in May and a fortnight later he ran third in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie. Ragnaar hails from the family of multiple Gr1-winning stallion Sky Chase, the sire of champion galloper Saintly, Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes winner Kindacross, as well as Perth Cup winner Respect.
