Solow Team Relishing Gleneagles Clash
The connections of Solow are looking forward to the challenge of taking on star Irish colt Gleneagles in the £1 million Gr1 Sussex Stakes (1600m) at Glorious Goodwood on 29 July, reports Sky Sports. The Freddy Head-trained Solow improved his already imposing record to 10 wins from 15 starts when defeating a strong field in the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes At Royal Ascot last month, while Aidan O'Brien described Gleneagles as potentially the best miler to come through Ballydoyle when the son of Galileo landed the St James's Palace Stakes at the same meeting. Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager for Solow's owners, the Wertheimer brothers, said: "We will stick to the plan and go for the Sussex. Freddy says the horse is back to normal after Royal Ascot and is working very well." He added: "You can do anything with our horse - you can have him at the front, at the back, go wide or be in the middle. He is very versatile and I think that might help at a racecourse like Goodwood. Gleneagles is a very impressive horse, but we cannot complain with Solow and it should be a great battle."
