1,343 Nominations For Blue Diamond
Meanwhile, the Melbourne Racing Club has received 1,343 nominations for next year's $1 Million Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield. The top three nominators remain the same with international powerhouse Godolphin leading the way nominating 95 juveniles, followed by the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig with 86 and Gai Waterhouse with 84. Among the blue-blooded babies to be nominated are offspring of Blue Diamond-winning mares Alinghi and Sleek Chassis, as well as a half-sister to champion sprinter Black Caviar. Last year's winning sire, Street Cry, father of top-class colt Pride of Dubai, has 32 nominations, while other Blue Diamond-winning sires Sepoy (43), Reward For Effort (22) and Redoute's Choice (28) are all well represented. The total number of entries represents an increase of 12 per cent year on year growth from 2015 nominations which reached 1,205, breaking the 1,200 mark for the first time in 5 years.
