Myboycharlie Filly Primed For Today's Gr1 Falmouth Stakes

Friday, 10th July 2015

Euro Charline, a US-bred Gr1-winning daughter of Vinery Stud shuttler Myboycharlie is on track for today's Gr1 QIPCO Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket after passing an urgent barrier test last week. It will be almost a year between UK races for the 204 Gr1 Beverly D. Stakes winner (see below) who was a last-minute withdrawal from the G2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot after refusing to load. Trainer Marco Botti criticised the starter at Royal Ascot after his filly was given just 27 seconds to enter the barriers before she was scratched. "That came completely out of the blue as, apart from on her 2YO debut, she has never had an issue with the stalls." Despite missing the event that had been a long time in the planning, Botti noted, "It might end up working to our advantage as she will go to the Falmouth as a fresh horse." Unraced since finishing fourth against the males in March's Gr1 Dubai Turf at Meydan, Euro Charline comprehensively passed her mandatory stall test after her unfortunate scratching. She is a $10 quote for today's feature. Myboycharlie, also sire of local Gr1 heroine Peggy Jean, will be represented by 149 foals due to race as 2YOs for the new Australian and New Zealand season. He is standing for $11,000 in 2015.
