American Pharoah Has Final Santa Anita Workout
Triple Crown hero American Pharoah had his final summer workout at Santa Anita Park yesterday before he relocates to trainer Bob Baffert's stable at Del Mar, reports Blood Horse. The champion colt breezed five furlongs in :59 1/5 according to Santa Anita clockers and Baffert timed his gallop out to six furlongs in 1:12 2/5. "It was a nice breeze," Baffert said. "He caught some company, sat behind them, and went well. It was good, because he sat off those workers well. He just wants to be in the bridle. As long as he's in the bridle, he's good." American Pharoah will make the 110-mile trip south to Del Mar on Tuesday where he will continue his preparations for the US$1 million Gr1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on 2 August.
