Head Happy With Solow

Tuesday, 14th July 2015

Meanwhile, Freddy Head, trainer of French ace Solow, reports the three-time Gr1 winner to be well ahead of the Gr1 Sussex Stakes on 29 July. The son of Singspiel took his record to 10 wins from 15 starts when last seen winning the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) at Royal Ascot. "Solow is very well, I'm very happy with him. I'm coming over here because it's a good race and as he's a gelding there are not many races in France for him," Head told Sky Sports, adding that Solow was up there with the very best horses he has trained. "He's very different to Goldikova," he said. "Obviously he is a very good horse, he was a bit backward and it took a bit of time for him to come to hand, but he is one of the better ones among the ones I have trained." He added: "It's going to be tough, Gleneagles is a very good horse and is the champion, but he has had a hard season for a three-year-old. It will be a great race, but I would like to see some rain as softer ground would help me more."
