UK Winner For Camilleri

Tuesday, 14th July 2015

Prominent Australian owner and Fairway Thoroughbreds principal John Camilleri had a winner in the UK on Friday when 3YO gelding Rifle Range saluted in the JLL Handicap (1600m) at Ascot. Prepared by Newmarket trainer Roger Varian, Rifle Range settled in second last position under jockey Graham Lee before making smooth headway in the straight and holding off the late challenge of race favourite Dutch Law to prevail by a neck. This was a promising performance by Rifle Range who took his record to 2 wins from 3 starts for £14,000 prize money. Bred by the Niarchos family, Rifle Range is by Shamardal out of the beautifully related Danehill mare Ratukidul, who is a half-sister to Gr1-winning sires Johann Quatz and Hernando.
