Whobegotyou Sibling Set For Debut

Wednesday, 15th July 2015

Mussenden, a half-sister to dual Gr1 winner Whobegotyou, is set to make her debut in a 2YO fillies maiden at Warwick Farm today. The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly will step out for the first time in the opening race on the card; the Tab.com.au Plate over 1300m. By Fastnet Rock out of the Japanese bred Carnegie mare Temple Of Peace, Mussenden was purchased by Waterhouse and bloodstock agent James Harron for $200,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud. Temple Of Peace, who was stakes-placed in France, has had six offspring make it to the track with the curiously named Whobegotyou her finest representative to date. Trained by Mark Kavanagh, Whobegotyou was possessed of a brilliant turn of foot which he utilised to great effect winning 10 of his 29 starts for over $3.2 million prize money. Twice successful at Gr1 level in the Caulfield Guineas and the Yalumba Stakes (now known as the Caulfield Stakes), the Street Cry gelding was also Gr1-placed a remarkable seven times, including in the Victoria Derby, Cox Plate, and Underwood Stakes. As for his sibling's prospects on debut, Gai Waterhouse said on her website: "After four career trials, this well bred filly is finally ready to race. She is fit, she is firing and she certainly has the ability to make her presence felt on Wednesday. The barrier might be a little sticky, but with Blake Shinn aboard, look for this filly to take up a position on or near the lead and be powerful to the line. Good each way chance." Mussenden will jump from barrier 10 in the field of 11.
