Pharoah Arrives At Del Mar

Thursday, 16th July 2015

Triple Crown hero American Pharoah arrived at trainer Bob Baffert's Del Mar stable on Tuesday to prepare for the US$1 million Gr1 Haskell Invitational next month, reports Blood Horse. American Pharoah, who recorded his maiden victory in the Gr1 Del Mar Futurity last September, had his first look at the new dirt surface, jogging one mile around the main track. "He loves it down here," assistant trainer Jim Barnes said. "It was just a normal jogging day after a ship." The champion colt will train at Del Mar for a likely start in the Haskell at Monmouth Park on 2 August. "You don't get to meet a Triple Crown winner very often, so we're delighted to have him here," said Joe Harper, Del Mar president and CEO. "He's looking very good and we're glad to have him back where (his career) started."
