Gr1-winning mare Suavito (Thorn Park-Queen Cha Cha, by High Chaparral) will miss the spring carnival due to injury, reports Racing.com. Trainer Nigel Blackiston said the 4YO requires surgery to remove a bone chip from her knee and won't be seen until the autumn. "It's in the higher part of the knee and it needs to come out and with the timing of it she'll have to miss the Spring," trainer Nigel Blackiston said. "It's in an unusual part of the knee, you don't really usually see bone chips in this part of the knee but the good thing is her recovery should be fine and she'll be back for the autumn." He added: "She should be fully recovered within eight weeks but by then there will be nothing around for her so I'll give her some extra time off and she'll be back in the stable by the start of November to hopefully get ready for an Australian Cup (2000m) campaign." Suavito broke through for a well-deserved maiden Gr1 success when defeating Smokin' Joey and Dissident in the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield in March.
