Criterion Works At Newmarket

Tuesday, 21st July 2015

Criterion has worked alongside a companion on the famous Limekilns gallops at Newmarket as he continues his preparation for next month's Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York, reports AAP. Trainer David Hayes says that Criterion, who has not raced since finishing a creditable fifth behind Free Eagle in the Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, is in good condition and pulled up well following the workout. "He's pulled up beautifully. He's had a nice, healthy glide but he's going to be really starting to tune up now," Hayes said. "I think the English summer has really helped him." He added: "He's got a magnificent coat and I couldn't be happier with him." Criterion is expected to line up in the Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes (2000m) at York on 19 August before returning to Australia for a tilt at the Cox Plate in October.
