Sandown Racing Closer To Return
William Hill Park (Sandown) is one step closer to reopening for racing after twelve jump-outs were successfully conducted on the course yesterday morning, reports Racing.com. Melbourne Racing Club track manager Jason Kerr said remedial works carried out over the past 12 months had been successful and he believed the venue was on schedule for a return to racing on 5 August. "We've had 90-odd horses jump-out this morning, half of them from the 1000m chute and the other half on the back straight," Kerr said. "The track has raced well and the jockey feedback has been quite positive." He added: "There has been some divoting which was to be expected as the track is still reasonably immature and it's a tough time of the year to do the renovations but certainly I think it's held up well enough to get the tick off from the stewards to resume on August 5."
