Vancouver To Trial Friday Week

Wednesday, 22nd July 2015

Exciting galloper Vancouver is set to trial at Randwick on Friday week. The boom colt established himself as one of the stars of the Australian turf when capping an unbeaten juvenile season with a brilliant victory in the Gr1 Golden Slipper at Rosehill in March. Trainer Gai Waterhouse revealed on Twitter that the handsome Medaglia d'Oro colt will step out at the Randwick barrier trials on 31 July as he continues his build-up to his 3YO season. "Vancouver stole the show this AM with Steve O'Halloran in the saddle. He feels terrific. Trials @royalrandwick 31st," she tweeted. Vancouver, who is likely to retire to stud later this year after being purchased by Darley for a reported $40 million, will be aimed at the $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on 12 September, before heading south for the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on 10 October. Writing on her blog, Waterhouse said: "I am thrilled to bits with Vancouver as anyone would be. Spelling this colt instead of aiming for the Triple Crown has been a blessing. He has furnished into a man and he is all set to take the spring both in Sydney and Melbourne by storm." Vancouver has won all four of his starts for $2,362,000 in prize money.
