American Pharoah Featured In Vogue
Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is the subject of a feature article in the latest edition of one of America's most prestigious fashion magazines - Vogue. The two-page spread, which includes a photo of the champion colt draped in a garland of roses near his stables at Churchill Downs in Kentucky, features interviews with owner Ahmed Zayat and Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert discussing the horse's race plans for the rest of the year. "We want to cap his racing career with something that's never been done in the history of sports," Zayat told Vogue. Zayat was referring to the Breeders' Cup World Championships, which this year will be held at Keeneland, in Kentucky, on October 30 and 31. However, Baffert was quick to point out that American Pharoah's participation in the Breeders' Cup was far from certain. "We don't know yet," Baffert said. "I'm letting the horse dictate where we'll run. I feel like I owe it to him." He added: "There's more pressure now training him because he's become this icon of racing." While a BC start remains up in the air, one thing that is assured is that racing's latest superstar will make his next appearance in the Gr1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on August 2. American Pharoah is currently training out of Baffert's base at Del Mar preparing for next month's US$1 million feature. Click here to read the Vogue article.
