Brown Panther Back In Work

Thursday, 23rd July 2015

Trainer Tom Dascombe is hoping Brown Panther will be fit in time to defend his Irish St Leger title at the Curragh on 13 September, reports At The Races. Brown Panther (Shirocco-Treble Heights, by Unfuwain) has been on the road to recovery since injuring himself in the lead up to the Gold Cup at Ascot in June, and Dascombe admits it will be a race against time to have him ready for the Irish showpiece. "He's being ridden now, as well as swimming, but he probably won't start cantering until next week," Dascombe said. "We are looking at six or seven weeks after that (before he runs), so let's see how he progresses." He added: "The Irish St Leger is the race we want to go for, obviously, but we'll just have to wait and see. He won't be able to run before then, anyway."
