Vandyke Welcomes Top Kiwi Prospect

Thursday, 23rd July 2015

David Vandyke is hoping his latest New Zealand recruit can continue his winning association with an Auckland-based thoroughbred identity, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Warwick Farm trainer recently took charge of the talented sprinter-miler Cosmic Cube for breeder-owner John Rowan. "John's a good bloke and I've had a bit of luck for him before," Vandyke said. "He sent Keith's Legacy over here a few years ago and we won a couple of Saturday races with him." Formerly with Graeme and Debbie Rogerson, Cosmic Cube crossed the Tasman with a record of six wins and seven placings from 18 appearances. "I'm looking forward to getting him to the track," Vandyke said. "We'll barrier trial him on July 31 and then possibly go to a benchmark 90 at Rosehill on August 15." He added: "I'll be nominating him for the Epsom so we'll see what he does between now and then. At this stage he's doing everything right and he's a nice looking horse." By Dehere out of Gr2 Surround Stakes winner So Keen (Jade Hunter), Cosmic Cube is a half-brother dual Gr1 winner and former champion New Zealand 2YO Keeninsky.
