William Hill Park Ready To Race
Racing Victoria has cleared William Hill Park (Sandown) for a return to racing on 5 August following a formal inspection of the track yesterday morning. The Melbourne Racing Club track manager Jason Kerr was pleased with how the surface held up during jump outs on Tuesday morning and is looking forward to racing getting underway on 5 August. "We had around 90 horses jump out yesterday and reports from jockeys were good," Kerr said. "We've walked the track this morning, it's a good 4 and the horses have made very little wear on the track. I'm pleased that the remedial work over past few months has returned the surface back to the standard suitable for metropolitan racing." He added: "The track is still a work in progress and will undergo another session of remedial work in September to ensure it is at its optimum for Sandown Spring Carnival Race Day 14 November." Leading jockeys Steven Arnold and Damien Oliver were both pleased with the surface and were confident it was ready for racing.
