Date Set For Hyett Hearing

Friday, 24th July 2015

The charges against former Aquanita stable employee Tania Hyett relating to the placing of 'lay' bets will be heard on Tuesday 11 August by the RAD Board, reports Racing.com. Hyett has been charged under rule AR 175B(2) which states: 'any person employed by a trainer in connection with the training or care of racehorses must not lay a horse under the control of the trainer for whom he is or was employed, while so employed and for a period of 21 days after ceasing to be so'. It is alleged that Hyett placed 34 lay bets on horses trained by Robert Smerdon between 20 December last year and 17 April this year, while employed by the stable. She was charged following an investigation into abnormal betting activity on the Jason Warren-trained Baron Archer in a race at Echuca in March.
