Coolmore Stud Stakes Target For Singapore's Latest Star

Monday, 27th July 2015

Singapore's latest racing sensation Super One (I Am Invincible-Tails Wins, by Tale of the Cat) will be tested against Australia's best after extending his unbeaten run to four in Sunday's Gr3 Juvenile Championship (1200m) at Kranji. The son of I Am Invincible treated his rivals with contempt, leading from start to finish in a five length victory which could have been greater had he not been eased down over the final furlong by jockey Corey Brown. Trainer Michael Freedman is keen to bring Super One to Melbourne for the Spring Carnival and said the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington was a likely aim for the colt. "He's the sharpest horse I have trained," Freedman said of the explosive youngster. "I'm keen on Melbourne, we'll see how he pulls up first." He added: "It would be exciting for the owners to represent Singapore and also for myself as well. If he comes through this I will sit down and look at the programming. At this stage I'd be certainly keen." Freedman said the colt would most likely enter quarantine without another run and could have a lead up run or trial in Victoria prior to contesting the sire-making Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. It is understood connections will also consider the Magic Millions Carnival in January. Jockey Corey Brown, having his first ride on the colt, was suitably impressed with the stunning performance. "I hate comparing horses," Brown said. "I used to ride Exceed and Excel and while I've only ridden this horse once on raceday and in one trial, he gives me the same feel." He added: "He runs the times and he's had nothing to focus on his races. I'm not saying he will be better with a target but it would be interesting. He's a very exciting horse." By I Am Invincible out of the unraced Tale Of The Cat mare Tails Wins, Super One was purchased by Michael Freedman and Michael Wallace for $190,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds.
