Monday, 27th July 2015

At Belmont in West Australia, Scenic Lodge Stud's Gr3-winning stallion Universal Ruler (Scenic-Rulings, by Hurricane Sky) celebrated his first black-type winner when 3YO gelding Rebel King (Universal Ruler-Rebel Sister, by Falbrav) scored by a nose for trainer Darren Mcauliffe in the $100,000 Listed HG Bolton Sprint (1200m) for 3YO+, over 4YO mare Cool Trade (Trade Fair-Around Jindabyne, by Akhenaton) & 5YO mare Wink And A Nod (McFlirt-The Westerly Win, by Danewin). Rebel King, who was purchased by Oz Racing for $40,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Scenic Lodge, took his record to 6 wins and 6 placings (including the Listed WATC Beaufine Stakes) from 14 starts for $425,325 earnings. Rebel King is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Rebelson (Snippetson) and hails from the same family as multiple stakes winner Black Heart Bart and New Zealand Oaks winner Savannah Success, the dam of dam of Cox Plate winner and outstanding young stallion Savabeel.
