Snow Sky Still In Cup Contention

Tuesday, 28th July 2015

Impressive Hardwicke Stakes winner Snow Sky (Nayef-Winter Silence, by Dansili) remains a possible runner in the Melbourne Cup despite a disappointing performance in the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, reports Racing.com. The Khalid Abdullah-owned 4YO performed well below expectations when finishing sixth behind the Luca Cumani-trained Postponed in Britain's time-honoured midsummer showpiece, but connections insist the Melbourne Cup is still very much on the agenda. "He didn't handle the tacky ground and that is probably why he has ran like he has," said the owner's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe. "We need to re-group and have a look at options but the Melbourne Cup is still very much in the mix. That was the race we identified for him during the winter and we are still thinking along those lines."
