So You Think Sibling Set For Debut Today
Beautifully bred colt Palaios, a 2YO half-brother to champion galloper So You Think, will make his debut in the Polytrack Maiden Plate (1200m) at Pakenham today, reports racenet. Palaios, by Medaglia d'Oro out of the Gr2 winning mare Triassic (Tights), was purchased by his trainer Brian Jenkins for $385,000 at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge-based nursery Henley Park. "I just loved him as a type. He was a great type," Jenkins said. "He's an imposing type." He added: "He's a big horse with plenty of scope about him, probably more in the mould of the Medaglia D'Oros and there's a bit of his mother about him." Jenkins said the blue blooded youngster had shown enough ability on the training track to suggest a forward showing was on the cards, adding a spring campaign was a possibility if he performed up to expectations. "He's had jump outs. He did what we asked him. He's a relaxed horse and he doesn't do any more than we ask him to do," Jenkins said. "If he can get a win first start it would be great because he can aim higher and then we can progress." He added: "He's reasonably precocious, I would say, so we might see him in the spring. It depends what's around for him. I haven't lined up his program exactly. We have just got to get tomorrow out of the way and we'll see where we go from there." Palaios will be ridden by Chad Schofield and will jump from barrier five. The race is scheduled for 1:28pm AEST.
