Toormore Wins Gr2 Lennox Stakes

Wednesday, 29th July 2015

Champion European 2YO of 2013 Toormore made a welcome return to form overnight when winning the Gr2 Lennox Stakes on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood carnival. The 4YO proved too classy for his rivals when scoring a comfortable 0.75-length win for trainer Richard Hannon over 3YO colt Dutch Connection (Dutch Art-Endless Love, by Dubai Destination) & fellow 4YO Safety Check (Dubawi-Doors to Manual, by Royal Academy) to take his record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 National Stakes) and 4 placings from 12 starts for £641,279 earnings. Toormore, who was having his first start for new owners Godolphin, had not won a race since landing the Gr3 Craven Stakes in April last year with Hannon hoping this latest victory gives him the confidence to once again prove competitive at the elite level. "It's lovely to see him win a race," Hannon told Racing Post. "It's a big thing for these horses to get confidence and he can go to the Prix Jacques Le Marios with a great chance. I think that race makes us think he needs to go back to a mile."
