Thursday, 30th July 2015

At Glorious Goodwood in the UK overnight, deceased multiple Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler & Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) celebrated a Gr1 success when 5YO UK-bred entire Solow (Singspiel-High Maintenance, by Highest Honor) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Freddy Head and jockey Maxime Guyon in the Gr1 Sussex Stakes (8 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 4YO entire Arod (Teofilo-My Personal Space, by Rahy) & 6YO gelding Gabriel (Dark Angel-Guajira, by Mtoto). Solow maintained his unbeaten run this season by taking his record to 11 wins (including the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes, Gr1 Prix d'lspahan & Gr1 Dubai Turf Stakes) and 3 placings from 16 starts for £3,486,563 earnings. "He's great, he's getting a bit lazy with his age and does exactly what he needs to. He's just a hell of a horse," said Head, who added the French ace would return to British soil for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on British Champions Day in October. "The plan is to go to the Ascot for the Queen Elizabeth in Octoboer. The softer [the ground] the better. I don't think we will have a race before that, then after I think he will go for a well-deserved vacation," Head told Racing Post.
