Trial To Decide Ryan Mark Programme
John Morrell's Gr1 ambitions with Ryan Mark (Thorn Park-Annalee, by Kingdom Bay) will rest on the gifted sprinter's performance when he returns to the public arena on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. "He's going to have a trial at Ruakaka and I'll wait and see what happens there first," the Te Rapa trainer said. "He should get some good ground to gallop on and it all depends how he goes. If he shows he's the same as he was, then I might look at the Foxbrdge Plate and the Makfi." Ryan Mark, who has won 6 of his 9 starts including the Listed Legacy Lodge Sprint last November, hasn't raced since finishing seventh behind In Style in the Gr1 Railway Stakes at Ellerslie on New Year's Day. "He was operated on after the Railway," Morrell said. "He had a chip in one knee taken out last year and this time they went into both knees and cleaned out some floating cartilage." he added: "He looks good now, he's strengthened and he's been back in work since April." Ryan Mark will step out in the first of two 1000m trials before racing gets underway at Ruakaka on Saturday.
