Heath Stakes First-Up For Rich Enuff
Classy Melbourne colt Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon-Hotnuff, by Spartacus) is likely to open his spring campaign in the Gr3 The Heath Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on 29 August, reports Racing.com. The son of Written Tycoon, who has not raced since finishing seventh in the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in November after sustaining a ligament injury, is being targeted at the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on 26 September. "We're planning on giving him his first trial on 10 August (at Cranbourne) with the idea of starting his preparation at Caulfield on 29 August in The Heath Stakes," trainer Ken Keys said. "He is all the things you want to hear; looks well, is feeling well and working well. He's 60 kilos heavier and has come on like I hoped he would." He added: "The aim for now is the Sir Rupert Clarke at the end of September, but his path will really be determined depending on his first-up run." Rich Enuff is a winner of 3 of his 6 starts, including the Gr2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington. He is also Gr1-placed, finishing runner-up to the recently retired Shooting To Win in last year's Caulfield Guineas.
