Roman Consul Likely For Exosphere
Godolphin assistant trainer Darren Beadman says that exciting Sydney colt Exosphere (Lonhro-Altitude, by Danzero) will be kept to sprint trips in the spring following his impressive win in last Saturday's Gr1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill. The striking son of Lonhro stamped himself as arguably the best 3YO in Australia with his maiden Gr1 triumph and will now likely contest the Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 3 October, before heading south for the stallion-making Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Derby day (31 October). Beadman, who knows a thing or two about good horses having ridden champions Octagonal, Saintly and Exosphere's dad Lonhro, said Exosphere had always been a special colt and that he has an X factor that all elite thoroughbreds possess. "I think he has [got the X factor]," said Beadman. "He's 600kg and he has a turn of foot, and that sorts out the men from the boys. Every run he's had, except in the Slipper [Golden Slipper], he's shown that quality." He added: "We are looking to keep him to a sprint program and go to the Roman Consul, and then down to Melbourne for the straight races."
