Melbourne Cup Winning Sibling Close To Debut
Penthouse Princess, a 3YO full sister to Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance, is close to making her racetrack debut after completing her first official trial at Cranbourne yesterday, reports Racing.com. Trained by Henry Dwyer, the daughter of Pentire and Mr Prospector mare Royal Successor was a $110,000 purchase by Dwyer Racing at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale from the draft of Rich Hill Stud. "She's still in the education phase. She's had two easy jump-outs at Caulfield and this is her first official trial," Dwyer said. "She's a very competitive filly, she wants to race everything and probably overdo things at this stage." Dwyer said Penthouse Princess will have to learn how to relax if she is to develop into a stayer like her esteemed older brother, adding he feels she is more of a sprinting type. "There's definitely ability there, it's just a matter of teaching her to do things properly," Dwyer said. "I don't think she's a dead-set stayer like her brother. I think she'll probably be a 1400 metre-mile filly."
