Monday, 29th February 2016

At Otaki Maori in New Zealand, Cambridge Stud's dual Gr1-winning stallion Tavistock (Montjeu-Upstage, by Quest For Fame) celebrated an elite success when 4YO gelding Volkstok'n'Barrell (Tavistock-Volkster, by Volksraad) scored by 1-length for trainer Donna Logan in the NZ$200,000 Group One WFA Classic (1600m), over 6YO geldings Julinsky Prince (Darci Brahma-Julinsky Princess, by Stravinsky) & Scapolo (Bachelor Duke-Kadesa, by Zabeel). Providing a welcome return to winning form to connections after an 11 month hiatus from the winners' circle, Volkstok'n'Barrel took his record to 7 wins (including the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas, Gr2 Great Northern Guineas & Gr3 Bonecrusher Stakes) and 4 placings (including the Gr1 Australian Derby) from 9 starts for $933,817 earnings. Volstok'n'Barrel was a NZ$50,000 purchase by Logan at the 2013 NZB National Yearling Sale.
