Monday, 20th June 2016

Exciting Irish stayer Order Of St George will be entered in the Melbourne Cup, reports ANZ Bloodstock News. Trainer Aidan O'Brien confirmed the news following the 4YOs impressive 3-length win in the Gr1 Gold Cup (20 furlongs) at Royal Ascot on Thursday. Order Of St George, who was one of three horses Nick and Lloyd Williams  purchased a share in last September, along with Ballydoyle stable-mates Bondi Beach and Kingfisher, improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 Irish St Leger, Gr3 Irish St Leger Trial & Listed Saval Beg Stakes) and 3 placings from 11 starts for £463,166 earnings. “We were always going to give him a break after this week and look at an autumn campaign,” O’Brien said. “I spoke to his owner Lloyd Williams last night and he is going to be entered in the Melbourne Cup.”
