Azkadellia Progressing Well

Wednesday, 5th October 2016

Trainer Ciaron Maher has provided an update on the progress of top mare Azkadellia (Shinko King-Raving, by Centaine). The 5YO New Zealand-bred mare showed she was nearing a return to racing when finishing second to star sprinter Lankan Rupee in an 800 metre jump-out at Caulfield yesterday morning. "She's going along well," Maher told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "She's a high quality horse and has probably retained some residual fitness from her last campaign." He added: "She seems in good order and had a good blow this morning." Azkadellia, rated one of the best mares in the country after her win in the Gr1 Qeen Of The Turf Stakes in the autumn, was set to embark on a trip to the US for the Breeders' Cup Championships in November before Racing Victoria stewards launched an investigation into the bona fides of her ownership.
