Railway Next For Perfect Fit

Tuesday, 13th December 2016

Classy Kiwi mare Perfect Fit will go into the Gr1 Railway at Ellerslie on New Year's Day without another run, reports theinformant.co.nz. Perfect Fit, who is by Elusive City out of the three-time Gr1-winning mare Fayreform, made outstanding progress for trainers Ken and Bev Kelso during her last preparation winning five of her seven starts, including a Gr1 success in the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (1600m) at Te Rapa in April. She then kicked off her summer campaign last month with a fast-finishing third in the Listed Counties Bowl (1100m) at Pukekohe. "She's going to go straight into the Railway now," said Mark Chitty, managing director of breeders and part-owners Haunui Farm. "It was a big effort first-up in the Counties Bowl, carrying 60 kilograms and running on a slightly rain-affected track. We've given her time to get over that, and she was going to have big weights again in the Concorde and Newmarket so we didn't want to run in those." He added: "She's really well and Ken and Bev Kelso are very happy with how she's going. She'll gallop between races at Tauranga next Wednesday, and then she'll go into the Railway and on to the Telegraph."
