Light Fingers First-Up For Spright
Top sprinting filly Spright (Hinchinbrook-Dashoff, by Dash for Cash) will have one more trial before launching her autumn campaign in the $200,000 Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on 11 February. Spright, who stamped herself as one of the best sprinting fillies in the country when defeating a quality field in the Gr3 VRC Crown Resorts Plate (1100m) at Flemington on Oaks day, tuned up for her return when fourth in a 1000 metre open trial at Hawkesbury on Monday morning. "She took a backward step when the gates opened and as a result gave the others a decent start," trainer Garry Frazer said. "Jordan [Frazer] rides her in her work, and obviously knows her well. I didn't want him to give her a hard trial. I was happy with what she did." Frazer intends to give Spright another trial at Randwick on 27.
