MM Gold Coast Sale Highlights International Bench

Wednesday, 18th January 2017

While not every horse purchased at Magic Millions' Gold Coast Book 1 session by overseas buyers will necessarily be exported from Australia, the volume involved was still pretty eye-opening. The aggregate horse numbers that fell to international bidders from Book 1 topped 100, with their buyers domicile incorporating New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, the UK, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Macau, Japan, and even New Caledonia. The now almost ubiquitous movement of thoroughbreds around the world has led to the allied growth of an increasingly specialised industry sector which also sees many thoroughbreds imported into Australia from abroad, including the popular tried horses segment. This was further underlined recently by Equine International Airfreight announcing the introduction of a new quarantine facility in the UK. Based at Newmarket, Blackhorse Farm is spread over 30 acres of pastured land with modern stabling, Diamond Mesh fencing, turn out paddocks, a horse walker and lunging ring, outdoor dressage arena, veterinary facilities and isolation stables. The Australian Government-approved quarantine facility will provide owners with more choice for transporting horses from the UK to Australia.
