Music Magnate To Resume In Expressway

Wednesday, 18th January 2017

Trainer Bjorn Baker was delighted with the winning trial performance of top sprinter Music Magnate (Written Tycoon-Concert Girl, by Danehill Dancer) who defeated a Group & Listed field that included champion mare Winx at Rosehill yesterday. The Gr1 Doomben 10,000 winner, who missed the spring after spiking a fever, won the 900m trial by 3.25 lengths over stable-mates Endless Drama and Winx in a time of 52.80 seconds. “I was very happy with Music Magnate this morning. He is moving very well at the moment, probably as well as we’ve ever seen him moving,” Baker told ANZ Bloodstock News. Baker said Music Magnate will resume in the Gr2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on 28 January. “We are really looking forward to getting him back in the Expressway Stakes on Saturday week. We won’t be hard on him. We’ll take a look at the TJ Smith [Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes] and we will also look at building him up towards Brisbane,” he said. The $2.5 million Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) will be run at royal Randwick on 1 April.
