QLD Rules Out Minimum Bet Rule

Thursday, 19th January 2017

Racing Minister Grace Grace says the State Government has no plans to introduce minimum bet legislation in Queensland, reports the Courier Mail. The stance adopted by Queensland is in contrast to that of NSW and Victoria which have recently introduced minimum bet requirements. In both jurisdictions, corporate bookmakers are required to let punters bet to lose a minimum of $2,000 at metropolitan meetings and $1,000 at provincial meetings. Despite the announcement, Ms Grace said she would monitor the situation to see "what's happening in other jurisdictions".
