Filly Excites Worthington

Tuesday, 24th January 2017

Trainer Rick Worthington says highly talented filly Honesty Prevails has overcome the problems that plagued her spring campaign, reports ANZ Bloodstock News. A brilliant winner of the Gr3 Widden Stakes on debut, Honesty Prevails showed her abundant class when rounding out her 2YO season with a fifth to champion 2YO Capitalist in the Gr1 Golden Slipper. She then returned as a 3YO in the spring but ran a poor tenth in the Gr2 Furious Stakes behind Foxplay. However, the daughter of Redoute's Choice showed she had returned to full health when posting a brilliant 10.25 length barrier trial win at Warwick Farm yesterday. “She had some soreness in her third carpal bone in her knee and Randwick Equine Centre recommended she have ‘X’ amount of time out and we just followed procedure,” Worthington said. "We’ve given her the time and I would hope that the owner and the stable can be rewarded for that." He added: "She was always going to be better with time. When she won the Widden she did that on raw ability...I'm hoping she can have a really nice autumn." Honesty Prevails, who hails from the celebrated Lassie Dear family of champion US stallion A.P. Indy, Belmont Stakes winning sire Lemon Drop Kid, Statue Of Liberty and Preakness Stakes winner Summer Squall, will resume in the Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on 11 February.
