Turn Me Loose To Benefit From Run
Champion New Zealand sprinter-miler Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj-Indomitable, by Danehill) is likely to be in need of the run when he resumes in the Gr2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night, according to his co-trainer Murray Baker. "He's never been a fresh-up horse," Baker explained. "He has won a trial but it's the same as the late spring. The 1200 metres is too short for him but we just had to kick him off." He added: "We're pretty happy with him. He's going as good as he ever did. He's a five-year-old stallion and it just takes a bit to get them going." Baker confirmed that Turn Me Loose's primary targets are the Gr1 CF Orr Stakes and the Gr1 Futurity Stakes, which he won last year. The Australia Stakes promises to be a star-studded affair with the likes of Gr1 winners Black Heart Bart, Palentino, Flamberge, Malaguerra, and up-and-coming types such as Chetwood and Winx's half-brother El Divino all entered for the $200,000 feature.
